CPC010693 The Complete PC Using Dr. Watson with Microsoft Windows 3.1 This document is provided as "For your information" and as is. Neither The Complete PC nor any of it's employees assume any responsibility for consequences resulting from the use of the following information nor can the Complete PC technical support provide help with this document. The user of said information does so at his or her own risk. If a General Protection Fault occurs while using RapidFAX for Windows and you are using Windows 3.1 you can create a record of the occurrence using a program called Dr. Watson. Dr. Watson resides in the background and watches all Windows activities, waiting for a problem to occur. Once a General Protection Fault or other serious error occurs Dr. Watson will pop up and ask for information on what the system was doing at the time. Then Dr. Watson creates a file called DRWATSON.LOG in your Windows subdirectory that contains the information pertaining to what caused the system to crash. If you are encountering consistent problems, and Dr. Watson is able to record them, our Technical Support will need the information contained in this file to locate and fix the problem. All reports should be faxed to 408-434-9701. The following instructions will assist you in setting up Dr. Watson to start watching for problems: First you must open the Startup Group in Program Manager Go to file under Program Manager and choose 'New', then choose 'Program Item' and click 'OK'. Click on the 'Browse' button and search your Windows subdirectory for a file named DRWATSON.EXE. Double click on DRWATSON.EXE and click 'OK'. This will place a Dr. Watson icon in your Startup group. Close the Startup group and exit Windows. From now on every time you enter Windows Dr. Watson will automatically load and begin watching for system problems. To remove Dr. Watson simply delete or drag the icon from the Startup group. Exit and re-enter Windows to have the changes take effect. Please refer to your Windows manuals for more information on Dr. Watson, as well as creating and deleting icons.
