708.DOC TurboModem Plus Using pcAnywhere v4.5 This document is provided as "For your information" and as is. The user of said information does so at his or her own risk. This document discusses the operation of Symantec's pcAnywhere with the TurboModem Plus. The following information will describe the changes necessary to pcAnywhere's configuration parameters to have it function with the TurboModem Plus. Note that the following information is presented with the assumption that you are using a mouse. If you are not using a mouse, please refer to the pcAnywhere manual for keyboard equivalents. Setting up pcAnywhere, Host/Remote Programs To configure pcAnywhere, either the Host or Remote program, for use with the TurboModem Plus you must do the following. Choose Hardware Configurations and hit return. Then select Serial: Modem and hit return. Choose the device/port that the TurboModem Plus is configured for. Move the cursor bar the Modem and hit return. Choose "Select from Modem List". You will be presented with a list of modems that pcAnywhere supports. Select GVC 14400 V.42bis as your modem type. The software will prompt you to edit the modem configuration. Choose yes and change the baud rate to 57,600. Hit ESC and click on yes to save the changes. Hit ESC to return to the main menu. Other Considerations If problems develop please check the following for possible problems. Make sure the Com port setting in pcAnywhere matches the setting on the TurboModem Plus. If you receive a failure in connecting be sure to check the modem with a communications package to ensure the modem functions properly. Be sure to check to see if the modem initialization string matches the above configuration. If problems still occur contact Symantec to ensure your pcAnywhere settings are correct.
