CPC092392 514.DOC The Complete Page Scanner "Smooth Scroll" Option This document is provided as "For your information" and as is. The user of said information does so at his or her own risk. If you are using the Full Page scanner with MastrScan* software and find the image distorted (pixels displaced about 8 pixels) or find you cannot scan at 300 dpi, you may need to modify the smooth scroll option to No. To change this parameter go into INSTALLS choose modify existing parameters F3. The next selection is PC configuration. The last parameter on this screen will be smooth scroll, set it to no. Press F10 twice to save your changes, then reboot. Smooth Scroll set to No builds a slight delay in the display while scanning routine. The scanning will be the same speed, but when you turn this option off, the displaying of the image while scanning will be slower. If your PC is unable to handle the scanning and displaying of the image at the same time, it might distort the images or prevent you from scanning altogether. Adding the slight delay usually fixes the problem. If you own a 386 or a 486 machine, you will probably have to set it to NO. If you still have the displaced pixel problem after turning smooth Scroll to NO, look for another product being loaded in the PC that may be disturbing the data across the DMA channel. The most common software product that causes this problem is memory managers (EMM386, QEMM, etc.). Disable your memory manager device driver and try scanning again. *MastrScan has replaced SmartScan for the Complete Half-Page and Page Scanners.
