The Scanner Checkout Program: FSCANCHK.EXE The FSCANCHK.EXE file is used to check whether you have any devices assigned to DMA Channel 1 or 3. It is a good idea to run this application if you are not familiar with your system configuration. NOTE: FSCANCHK.EXE checks what is assigned to DMA Channel 1 or 3 ONLY. To use FSCANCHK.EXE, simply type FSCANCHK at the A:\ prompt with the driver diskette inserted. The application goes and check to see if anything is assigned to DMA Channel 1 or 3. If any conflicts are found, the application responds with a to message notify you. If there are no conflicts a message notifies you which DMA channel is available. You need to install The Complete PC Scanner driver before installing the scanning and editing application. Installing CPCFSCAN.SYS To install the scanner driver: Insert The Complete PC Scanner Driver Diskette into your floppy drive. Change to the drive that contains the diskette (normally drive A:). Type INSTALL at the prompt. You will be prompted to accept the default I/O address and DMA Channel settings (Y/N)? If you accept the default settings (Y) the application will automatically set: I/O address 3E0 DMA Channel 1 If these settings conflict with other board settings in your computer, specify no (N). You can then enter the selection number that corresponds to the I/O Address (1-8), and the DMA Channel selection (1 or 3). Refer to your scanner Installation and User's Guide for switch setting options. You will then be prompted to specify in which drive you inserted The Complete PC Scanner Driver diskette. The program will copy the scanner driver into your root directory, and modify your CONFIG.SYS to contain the device driver information you selected. NOTE: Using INSTALL.EXE automatically modifies your CONFIG.SYS. If you would prefer to manually add the scanner device driver to your CONFIG.SYS and copy the CPCFSCAN.SYS file into your root don't use the INSTALL.EXE application. You MUST re-boot before installing the editing application.
