CPC101392 421.DOC Complete ModemTM and Complete ModemTM Plus How to Test the Modem Using Bitcomr v6.02 This document is provided as "For your information" and as is. Neither The Complete PC nor any of it's employees assume any responsibility for consequences resulting from the use of the following information, nor can the Complete PC technical support provide help with this document. The user of said information does so at his or her own risk. To use Bitcom v6.02 to test your modem you'll need to do the following: Execute Bitcom by either typing Bitcom in the C:\PFAX\BITCOM directory, or by choosing F3 on the PPLUS menu. You will be presented with a Bitcom Communication Selection Menu. We will use this menu to enter into a "Terminal Mode". To enter into a "Terminal Mode" you'll need to move the cursor (or highlight) to the record that states "Dumb" "Dumb Terminal, Local Connect, Test Mo". Hit Alt C to connect into "Terminal Mode". You should now see a blank screen. At the bottom will be Help and Menu Options as well as a Connect timer that will be counting. If the timer is not moving or if the PC locks up at this point, then there is a problem with the Com Ports and the Complete Modem or Complete Modem Plus may be conflicting with an already existing Com port. Please make sure that the Com port that the Complete Modem or Complete Modem Plus is installed on is not enabled on your I/O card. If the timer is moving, type AT and hit Return. (Note: If the screen shows AATT, then you have local echo turned on). You should see an OK on the screen below the AT command. If there is an OK then the modem is setup properly and functioning. If you do not see an OK, or if the cursor moved back underneath the A in AT then you might have a Com Port conflict. Please refer to the troubleshooting section for more information about Com port conflicts. To exit the "Dumb Terminal" hit Alt F2 and a H. This will return you to the Bitcom Communication Selection Menu. You can then exit Bitcom by typing Alt Q for Quit.
