                The Complete Communicator for DOS
                      Using a DEST Scanner
                                


This document is provided as "For your information" and as is.
Neither The Complete PC nor any of it's employees assume any
responsibility for consequences resulting from the use of the
following information nor can the Complete PC technical support
provide help with this document.  The user of said information
does so at his or her own risk.

  Do the hardware installation for the DEST scanner.

  Power on the PC and scanner.

  Perform the DEST scanner software installation

  Check you CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT files for DEST drivers.

  Power down your PC but leave your scanner on.
                                
  Check if you can see a message, "DEST Scanner now ready for
  use" when the PC is booting up.

  Check your scanner to see if two green lights are on.   If you
  see the red light on, it means there is a problem with the
  installation and your scanner cannot scan.

  Use the DEST scanner software to check out the scanner before
  you use the Communicator software to scan faxes.  Make sure
  you can scan a page.

  Run INSTALLC and choose Modify Existing Parameters.

  Choose Hardware Configuration and enter a number 2 under the
  Page Scanner field.

  Hit F10 twice to exit the installation software and re-boot
  the PC.

  Please refer to the Users Guide for instructions on Scanning
  and Sending Faxes
