Neither The Complete PC nor any of it's employees assume any responsibility for consequences resulting from the use of the following information nor can the Complete PC technical support provide help with this document. The user of said information does so at his or her own risk. To test your modem, you can do the following from the DOS prompt: C:\COPY CON COM1 (or COM2 if the modem is installed there) C:\ATDT1408434-9703 (or anay phone number, then pick up the phone a listen) C:\^Z (Control Z, Closes the file) You should hear your phone dial. If not, you should see either: DOS reports a "Write Fault Error" in which case you have a faulty connection between the fax and modem, or you have a bad modem all together. or DOS reports "One File Copied", but nothing happens. In this case DOS wrote to a port, but some other device than the modem receivied the message. Look for other COM 1 or COM 2 devices on your computer, or some other device that uses IRQ 4 or IRQ 3, respectively.
