The user of said information does so at his or her own risk. Changing the I/O address The first three DIP switches are used to set the I/O address. The following chart shows you how to set the CCOM switches for different I/O settings. Switch 1 2 3 I/O Address UP UP UP 220-227 UP UP DN 260-267 UP DN UP 2A0-2A7 UP DN DN 2E0-2E7 (default) DN UP UP 320-327 DN UP DN 360-367 DN DN UP 3A0-3A7 DN DN DN 3E0-3E7 I/O address 3E0 is a good choice which rarely causes a conflict. Changing the COM port and interrupt Switch 4 on the CCOM board is used to select the COM port assignment for the modem function. Switches 5 through 8 set the associated interrupt. Note: The modem can only be set to COM1 or COM2 it cannot be set to COM3 or COM4. If your computer or another interface card has a built-in COM1 or COM2, disable the COM port that matches the one you'll be using for CCOM. The Communicator's modem default is COM 2. If you disable COM 2 you may install The Communicator without changes. If you disable COM 1, set the switches on the Communicator's data modem to COM 1/Interupt 4. Refer to your computer's manual or the interface card's instructions to disable the COM port. Refer to the following chart for COM port settings. Switch Description 4 5 6 7 8 DN DN DN UP DN COM 1 Interrupt 4 UP DN UP DN DN COM 2 Interrupt 3 (default) The standard IBM specification assigns interrupt 4 to COM1 and interrupt 3 to COM2. Only one of the DIP switches 5 through 8 should be UP; the rest of them must be DN. Note: If you will be plugging a Complete PC Scanner into the CCOM board, it will use the same interrupt setting as the modem. You may have a modem that you would prefer to use rather than the CCOM modem, or other devices committed to COM1 and COM2, so you will not be using the CCOM modem. If this is the case you should disable the CCOM modem to eliminate conflicts with your other serial devices. To do this: Set switches 5 through 8 on the CCOM board to indicate no modem as shown. Disable the modem by moving the modem jumper, located at the bottom center of the board to the off position.
