CPC091692 The Complete Communicator Voice Detection Threshold This document is provided as "For your information" and as is. Neither The Complete PC nor any of it's employees assume any responsibility for consequences resulting from the use of the following information nor can the Complete PC technical support provide help with this document. The user of said information does so at his or her own risk. The Complete Communicator is voice activated for both Incoming and Outgoing Message functions. The board must detect voice in order for these features to work. The following information describes how the Voice Detection Threshold value affects these 2 features. Incoming: The Voice Detection Threshold value will control the sensitivity of the CCOM board when "listening" for incoming voice. If this value is set too high for your system, you may find callers being cut off by the system prompts during the recording of speech. The callers can Continue Recording after being cut off, but it can be confusing to the caller. If you experience this symptom, you should lower this value. Lowering the value of this parameter makes the board more sensitive to incoming voice. If Voice Detection Threshold value is set too low, or too sensitive, you may find that our board stays off hook longer than it should. This is because it is set so sensitive that any noise will trigger the recording process. Outgoing: When our board attempts an Outgoing Message, the first thing the board does is try to detect dialtone from the phone line. If the Voice Detection Threshold value is set too high, it may not "hear" dialtone and not dial the recipient's phone number. If it does dial and your recipient answers the phone, the board may not "hear" the person say "Hello?". The Outgoing Message will not play if it does not hear voice. If you are experiencing this symptom, you should lower the Voice Detection Threshold value. If the Voice Detection Threshold value is set too low, the board will dial the recipient's number but play your Outgoing Message before your recipient answers. The board is set so sensitive that it detects ringing as voice. You would increase the value to cure this symptom. As you can see from the above information, Voice Detection Threshold can be a very important parameter! The default value for Voice Detection Threshold is 10. The average CCOM owner keeps this value set anywhere from 7-10. To change the Voice Detection Threshold you need to go into the INSTALLC program. Choose Modify Existing Parameters, then Telephone System Information. This is the screen that you will make modifications to Voice Detection Threshold. Lower the number in small increments to increase the voice detection, then press F10 twice to save your changes and reboot. You must reboot for the new settings to be effective.
