The user of said information does so at his or her own risk. Execute Procomm Plus. When the screen clears the trademark screen, you will be in terminal mode. Press Alt-S to invoke the configuration menu. The first item on the menu will be MODEM OPTIONS. Press the ENTER key to select it. The first item under MODEM OPTIONS will be GENERAL OPTIONS. Press the ENTER key to select it. Option F will be Send Init if CD High. The default value is NO. Press the F key to enable edit of this option. Change it to YES. Press the ESC key to return to the previous menu. Then move the highlight bar to the second option, MODEM COMMANDS. Press the letter A to enable edit of the Initialization string. Replace the existing string with the one below that matches your modem. Non MNP Initialization string: AT&F&C1&D1^M Alternate: ATE1V1Q0X4&C1&D1^M MNP Initialization string: AT&F&C1&D1^M Alternate: AT&C1&D1E1V1Q0X4\A3\N3\Q3\V1%C1\J0^M The alternate string should be used if you find that the initialization string does not produce the desired result. The remaining strings may be left at the default. Press the ESC key twice to return to the Procomm Setup Utility Main Menu. Next, move the highlight bar down to the second option, TERMINAL OPTIONS. Press the Enter key to select it. You'll notice that options C and D deal with flow control. We want the soft flow control (XON/XOFF) to be OFF and the hard flow control (RTS/CTS) to be ON. After making any appropriate changes press the ESC key to return to the Main Menu. This concludes the settings needed by the Complete Communicator Modem. Set the other options and configurations at your discretion. Be sure to SAVE SETUP OPTIONS once you have completed all changes. Then press the ESC key to return to terminal mode.
